Cross Country Open --- 27 to  31 December 2008 (beginners welcome and mentored if requested)

Dates 27th – 31st December 2008
Format Pilot may choose - take off time, take off site, route and task.
Tasks Open distance (OD) –OD with one turn point (D1) -Out and Back (OB) Triangle (TR)
Scoring Distance scored as OD x 1 - D1 x 0.9 - OB x 1.5 – TR x 2
Requirements Member NZHGPA, PG2 + 20 hours (or equivalent) Current WOF and equipment as per NZHGPA rules ( Altimeter, Back-protection , Reserve , Helmet)
Sites Treble Cone, Waiorau, Long Gully, Cardrona, Coronet Peak, Mt Roy, Mt Iron.
Cost $15.
Includes Maps, briefings,
Typical Day 9.30 am briefing (not mandatory but highly recommended) for weather, suggested best site, and car-pooling. Then flying where you wish from your choice of site.
Other Seminars on Instruments, safety, weather, mountain flying, ground handling, competition flying, film evening etc.
Instruments For scoring - downloads from the attached list of supported GPS. Note - For recognition of 50+ km/points flights on the NZXC ladder  a 3D track log will be required. (www.nzhgpa.org.nz)

Registration 0800-1000 hrs on the 27th of December 2008, at 110 Lismore St, over looking Lake Wanaka, only 10 minutes walk from the centre of town. Anyone needing directions, please call/Email  Bryan or look it up on Google Earth or type address into Yellow Maps  (hyper link) for a map.
First Briefing 1000 hrs on the 27th of December 2008. at 110 Lismore Street, Wanaka.
Subsequent Briefings 0930-1000 hrs opposite Ardmore Street Food Company (AFC), Corner Ardmore Street/Dungarvon Street. (Town/Lake corner of  Pembroke Park)
Debriefings For downloads and to re-live the days achievements will be at the Red Rok Cafe
Final Night 31 December 2008 a bring your own BBQ at Kat and Bryans house.

New Zealand Nationals (FAI category 2) ---- 2 to 10 January 2009

Sites Treble Cone , Waiorau, Long Gully, Hill End, Breast Hill, Coronet Peak.
Cost $90 if paid before 1st of November 2008 and $120 if paid after.
Includes Maps, Dinner
Requirements Membership NZHGPGA, PG2 + 40 hrs, current W.O.F., and a FAI Sporting Licence ($20 payable on registration if not already held).
Numbers Limited to 85 Pilots.
